The Sexual Crimes and Gendered Violence database is a dataset curated from English common law court records. It contains information on approximately 3,500 early modern legal cases talking about over 8,000 different individual people in approximately 6,000 records. The legal cases are all cases of sexual crime or gendered violence which were prosecuted between 1642 and 1660. A relational database like this one makes it possible to manage a huge amount of information related to thousands of legal cases. It also provides a framework to interrogate a large amount of interrelated data. SCGV allows the user to query information about people and cases.
